Frequently Asked Questions

What is a bookmarklet?

A bookmarklet is basically a smart bookmark that runs some Javascript code in your browser. When clicked, it allows the user to interact with the currently loaded web page.

How does the Get<Price bookmarklet work?

The bookmarklet reads the title and headline of the product page you're on and sends it to our web server. Software code on our server takes the input, applies some logic, and comes up with a list of Amazon.com products matching the product you're looking at.

Does it work on any website?

Yes! You can use it on any website you want. Be sure to be on a product page when you click it.

Does it always find matching products?

Yes, most of the time. Sometimes it does not but then you can manually tweak the search term and get results.

How does the side by side comparison work?

Amazon.com has millions of products yet it does not let you compare products side by side. What a pain!
If you click the bookmarklet on an Amazon.com product page, then the product gets added to a side-by-side comparison. More here ...

Why should I use this tool?

Yes, most of the time. Sometimes it does not but then you can manually tweak the search term and get results.

How did you come up with the idea for this widget?

I needed it :) I noticed that I was often online shopping for a product somewhere when I realized that I should check Amazon.com's price.
